Year 3 2024 - 2025

Mr Tobin

Mrs Lawrence-Rimmer

Welcome to the class page for Year 3, here you will find out some information about the curriculum and class expectations.

In Year 3, we are working hard to build responsibility and resilience in our learning. We are developing independence by taking on new challenges and learning from our mistakes.

This term, we will be exploring key events in the life of Jesus, focusing on the Supper at Emmaus, Pentecost, and Jesus' mission to the world. We will reflect on how the disciples recognised Jesus after his resurrection and what this moment teaches us about faith and understanding. As we learn about Pentecost, we will discover the power of the Holy Spirit and how it gave the disciples the courage to spread Jesus’ message. Through Jesus' mission to the world, we will think about how his teachings continue to inspire people today and how we can follow his example in our own lives.

In Maths, we will be developing our skills by learning about time, money, and fractions. We will practise reading the time on both analogue and digital clocks, helping us to understand timetables and daily routines. When exploring money, we will learn how to add and subtract different amounts, as well as solve real-life problems involving change. In our work on fractions, we will discover how to find and compare halves, quarters, and thirds, building a strong foundation for understanding parts of a whole. Through practical activities and problem-solving challenges, we will develop confidence and fluency in these important topics!

In science, we will be exploring forces and magnets to understand how things move and interact. We will investigate pushes and pulls, learning how different forces affect objects in our everyday lives. Through exciting experiments, we will discover how magnets attract and repel, and how they can work without touching! We will also explore magnetic materials and learn how magnets are used in the world around us.

PE is on a Wednesday and Thursday.

Please ensure you wear the correct PE kit to school on these days.
