A Very Warm Welcome to Mr Ray’s Year 5 Class!

A very warm welcome to our fantastic Year 5 class!

I am Mr Ray, the class teacher, and I am very fortunate to be supported by our brilliant Teaching Assistants, Miss Green and Mrs Lawrence-Rimmer.

Year 5 is an amazing year and an important step in the children’s journey through school. It is a year where we continue to develop our skills, knowledge and confidence while beginning to take on a new level of independence and responsibility. There will be lots of exciting learning, new challenges, fantastic opportunities and, of course, plenty of fun along the way!

We have high expectations for every child and want them to feel proud of who they are and what they can achieve. We will encourage the children to work hard, be kind, show respect, take responsibility and always give things their best effort. Most importantly, we want them to enjoy coming to school, feel confident in their abilities and make lots of brilliant memories along the way.

We have a really exciting year ahead, and I am looking forward to seeing the children grow in confidence, develop their independence and discover just how much they are capable of achieving.

PE Days

This half term, our PE days will be Tuesday and Thursday.

We will be developing our skills through Dodgeball, as well as enjoying Dance with our specialist teacher, Miss Meredith.

Homework & Reading

Our main expectation for homework is that children come to school positive, prepared and ready to learn each day.

If you would like to support your child at home, we would particularly recommend:

• Reading together or independently 5 times a week.
• Using TTRockstars regularly to develop and strengthen times table skills.

Both of these activities are fantastic ways to support your child’s learning and help them to build confidence in important areas of their education.

I am incredibly excited about the year ahead and all the opportunities Year 5 will bring. I can't wait to see the children develop, grow in independence, have fun and achieve things they can be proud of.
