Dear Parents and Carers,

A very warm welcome to the Year 5 class page! We’re excited to begin an exciting new half term filled with fun and engaging learning opportunities.

This half term, in Maths, we’ll be helping the children develop a strong understanding of decimals, exploring how they work and how they are used in everyday life, before moving on to Geometry, where we’ll investigate different shapes, their properties, and how they fit together. In Science, we’ll be learning about Animals, including Humans, finding out about different animal groups, life cycles, and how our bodies help us grow and stay healthy. Meanwhile, in History, we’ll be travelling back in time to explore the Maya civilisation, discovering who they were, how they lived, and the fascinating achievements they are still remembered for today. In PE, we’ll be taking part in one of Mr Ray’s favourites—cricket—and I can’t wait for all the fun we’ll have learning new skills and playing together.

Please note that PE lessons will take place every Wednesday and Thursday, so children should come to school in their PE kit on both days.
